You’ve made it through your first two weeks of distance learning! Many of you have been asking about community service while doing distance learning. I wanted to share some opportunities locally that you may want to do over your spring break. West Coast Soccer Community Service Program Want a way to make a difference, get free on the job training, gain experience, and earn your community service hours while having fun? West Coast Soccer is now offering a Community Service Program. It will all take place in Mountain House. The spring session will begin the week of March 9th and end May 16th. There will also be a fall session that begins in August. With a list of opportunities there is something for everyone: Mentor, Coach, Referee, Photographer, Reporter, Web Designer, or Videographer. You can create a short video of a soccer skill for beginner levels to see and learn! One of the many things that helps people get better control during stressful times is prioritizing. Make a to-do list and prioritize. Once you get to checking things off your list your stress levels will hopefully decrease as well. Time Management Tips Video-Click Here It is important to remember that stress and mood aren’t always related! Having a stressful day doesn’t mean you can’t have a positive mood. More importantly, staying positive during times of high stress/anxiety is the best way to get through stressful times. In this stressful time, it’s important to absorb some good news and be intentional about noticing happy moments. Here are a few things to help you keep your positive perspective! Animal Friends! Sometimes a dose of cuteness is the best medicine. #Caremongering: Let’s be like Canada! In the last few days they have started a movement to spread kindness by helping people in their community. They call it caremongering to counteract the “scaremongering” that is going around. It can even be something as simple as positive messages to encourage friends or helping out family at home. Look for ways to care for others this week. How To Make a Record Setting Paper Airplane Might as well use your time in the house wisely! Send [email protected] a video of your paper airplane attempts or an update on how you are caring for yourself or others this week (#caremongering) and you may be featured in next week’s Positive Perspective! Over the next few weeks while the school is participating in Distance Learning, Counselors will be sending out daily tips, techniques, and activities to help support you during this time. We realize that a large change such as this can cause stress and anxiety on you and your family. As we start to prepare for distance learning, now is the time to ensure you have an adequate space in your home to work.
If you haven’t done so already, you should establish a daily schedule. Creating a daily schedule will ensure you are dedicating enough time for your studies while also maintaining a healthy school/life balance. Teachers don’t expect you to work on assignments all day, every day. In fact, we encourage you to schedule time for yourself! If you need help creating a daily schedule that works for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your counselor. We are here to help you! It is our goal to continue to provide comprehensive school counseling services related to academics, personal/social, and career development fields. We will just be doing this in a new way!
